About Hatch DTLA
Hatch is a modern Japanese tapas restaurant that celebrates creative sharing plates and yakitori. Japanese cooking methods with bold international flavors, presented in a fun dining experience. Inside The Bloc in Downtown Los Angeles. Open for dine-in, catering drop-offs across DTLA, and private events.
The restaurant and chefs
Hatch was founded by Daniel Shemtob, the season two winner of Food Network's The Great Food Truck Race (The Lime Truck). The restaurant is a modern izakaya concept serving creative Japanese sharing plates and yakitori grilled over binchotan charcoal. Chef Erick Cielo leads the kitchen, bringing precision and personality to a menu that spans chicken, beef, pork, lamb, seafood, and vegetable skewers alongside bento bowls, fried rice, karaage, and seasonal specials.
The beverage program includes handcrafted cocktails, artisanal sakes, and rare Japanese whiskies. The space was designed by RD Collaborative as a 2,000 SF "social street food meets fine dining" hybrid, with two distinct dining zones that frame the yakitori grill as a live performance. The mission: make socializing as delicious as possible.
Catering and delivery
Hatch offers drop-off catering for offices, meetings, and group events in Downtown Los Angeles. Orders include yakitori trays (10 skewers per tray), bento bowls (individual portions), shareable platters, sides, soup, and dessert. We recommend 5 to 7 bites per person across a mix of items. Delivery is available within the DTLA area.
Once you submit your order, we'll call or text to confirm the details and take payment. After that, your order is locked in and the best food in Downtown LA will show up exactly when you want it.
